What a stunning wedding! Not only did we have a gorgeous bride and proud groom, we also had an absolutely magnificent day weather wise!

Sonja went all out and look absolutely stunning, Ivan was dressed to the hilt and the bridesmaids looked picture perfect. Where Ivan is normally quiet, just add his two brothers and you can’t get a word in edgewise (something along the lines of ‘just add water’) Timing went perfect throughout, enough time with the boys for a proper shoot, even enough time for a proper bridal shoot AND then a breather or two in between. The ceremony was extreme, fun and yet intense as well, thank you Cobus for another brilliantly prepared ceremony!

The venue was nice, with ample space for a very interesting entourage and couple shoot, but what made the couple shoot was definitely Sonja & Ivan and the fun they have with each other, a truly amazing couple to watch when they interact. Ivan’s brothers were responsible for more laughs when they gave Ivan his very own poster to assist in his speech, but not something we’ll be placing on the blog anytime soon. When it came to the night shoot Sonja wanted something sexy, something teasing and definitely different…. We enjoy couples who love experimenting with us, and pushing the boundaries a bit!

Designing your Album

So many of our couples want to know how does it work when it comes to their Albums and the design thereof, so this entry is designed to give a broad answer to that question.

By the time it comes to the selection process you would already have received all your images of your wedding day, in high and low resolution. Each image is numbered and you are then requested to select your favourite images of the day, anything from 80 to 140 images depending on your album and the size thereof.

On receipt thereof Lee will then start the layout of your album, this takes approximately 14 days. The design can be chosen from Traditional, Classic or Art layouts. Each album is designed around our couples, their personality and their preferences relating to the choices available. Scripting can be added, from personal messages you may have sent to each other in the past, to Bible Text or even parts of the speeches.

Once the layout is complete we email it to our you for proofing. You then have the option to make changes to the layout and only once you sign it off will it be sent in for printing and binding, this can take another 14 days, and then you have the perfect album reflecting those special memories of your wedding day

The layouts done above is part of Thea and Anton’s wedding which we did in February 2011 at Victorian Manor. It’s a bit of a combination of Classic & Art design, with backgrounds and collage’s to give a broader spectrum of certain aspects of the day.

Nadine & Luan - 23 April 2011 - Shokran

Nadine & Luan got married on one of those amazing & perfect late summer days. Both got dressed at a guest house close to the venue, but not seeing each other until the moment she walked down the aisle.

She looked so lovely, perfect make-up by Yolande and a drop-dead gorgeous dress! Luan could absolutely not take his eyes of his lovely bride throughout the whole day. Cobus Fabricius had one of those memorable ceremonies, personal and fresh, and we’d like to thank him for the amazing message he gave to these two special people, and of course to the rest of us as well.

Shokran is a Moroccan themed venue, amazingly well set up with the best Dukkah spices ever! Raytrice Mobile Disco provided the music (awesome as always!) and throughout it was an amazing wedding

Anesca & Poen - 16 April 2011 - Blue Moolight Lodge

We arrived at Blue Moonlight Lodge on the Friday evening, just after dark, and the fires were already burning. A lot of Anesca & Poen’s family and friends were already there, and Poen treated us all to the best Eland steaks ever! We met with the lodge managers, Deon and Marli, and they turned out to be the perfect hosts not just for the Friday night but for the whole wedding.

It started raining the Friday night, and it went on non-stop until approximately 20 minutes before the wedding started on the Saturday afternoon. Throughout the evening we were treated by the sounds of Lions roaring next door at Mahala View right next door (we went back a few weekends later and spent time with Leon and his Lions, we highly recommend anyone to pop in there!). Thankfully the Lodge had a permanent supply of coffee ready and which absolutely made our day that much better. The wedding ceremony went off perfectly and both Anesca and Poen showed a bit of nerves before tying the know, Poen a bit more though….

It has to be said that Poen is a huge man, a farmer from the Mafeking district and he absolutely hates photo’s. Now considering that this man has these huge hands (elke hand so groot soos n brood) you don’t push him for photo’s, you play around and chat about hunting or farming and when he gets going THEN you take the photographs. The venue has this huge balcony and it was just so easy getting a group photo of the 150 odd guests present, and this same balcony gave the most awesome vantage point for part of the couple shoot.

With Blue Moonlight Lodge situated 30km or so from Pretoria, and in the Dinokeng Nature area, we had raw bushveld as part of this luxury lodge, the service throughout was brilliant and Deon and Marli were hands-on and absolutely brilliant in co-ordinating, and hosting this incredible wedding. This has to rate as one of our favourite venues of the year, and we highly recommend them to anyone looking to get married in the South African Bush!

Bianca & Christo - 9 April 2011 - Makiti

I've been thinking for quite some time of how to describe Bianca & Christo's wedding, and only one word came to mind, Epic, yip their wedding was definitely Epic! WOW does not even begin to describe it!

We met the two of them a couple of years ago where Christo was one of the Best Men on Arthur & Chantelle's wedding, and where we always say the Best Man should always be slightly naughtier than the groom, Christo went ahead and totally took the cake on that day, and not much has changed.... They were already dating back then, and the 'forever bachelor' made an honest lady of the beautiful Bianca on the 9th of April 2011

Christo and his mates were on the ball, and I had my hands full with them, a stunning bunch of guys and definitely the correct choice for Christo to have them by his side on this day. Bianca was absolutely gorgeous, and took quite a few breaths away, not just Christo's! The two of them were laughing during their vows, and if it's anything to go by they'll be sharing quite a few more laughs in years to come. It has to be said that Bianca is an absolute natural in front of the camera, she knows just how to ‘work’ with the camera and she was just so easy to shoot, and yip Christo you brought your side as well!

Everything came together with their couple shoot, the lighting, the backdrop from the venue and their bubbly personalities, it was one of the most awesome shoots we've been privileged to have been part of. It has to be said we had our very own Sergeant Major there to keep us on our toes and make sure that they entered the reception on time, spot on time! Yip that can only be Christo's big brother Jason, thanks Jason, as always looking out for the young one's when they are not washing cars or mowing the lawn as in the good old days....

Christo & Bianca, not only was it an awesome wedding and you guys an awesome couple, you've gone from acquaintances to very close friends and we wish you guys only the best. You are an incredible couple that fit so well together, and we can only see exiting and awesome times ahead for the two of you! Natasha & Hein - 26 March 2011 - Tshukudu Lodge

We met Natasha & Hein when they started planning their bushveld wedding a couple of months ago and immediately 'clicked' like a house of fire, from day one! One thing you have to know about Hein is that this man LOVES cheesecake, and most of our meetings had cheesecake present, even at the wedding! Talk about fringe benefits for the photographers… yeah!

Both Natasha & Hein are very much into detail & planning, it was incredible the way in which the day went and how well organized everything was, from start to finish. Natasha looked stunning and despite the extremely hot day Hein was still keen for his portrait shoot. The only reason the ceremony started late was one or two of the guests were late and the minister gladly took the blame, it was so funny standing next to the minister and hearing the calls to Natasha that we were just waiting for him.... the minister took this all in very good humour!

The rains came close by luckily stayed away. The manager was kind enough to show out all the good spots during the couple shoot and we made it back before sunset for the family shoot. Inside the venue everything was perfect and the service from Tshukudu Lodge (at Genius Loci Game Ranch & next to Mystic Monkeys)was exceptional and very much hands on, compliments to them for an exquisite function! One can apparently arrange a walk & shoot with either lion or cheetah, but our day was way too full for something like that, hope to do that one day

So all the planning and meetings panned out and it was a beautiful and intimate wedding, Natasha & Hein was absolutely awesome throughout and we were blessed to have been able to share in their wedding day. Monica & Dustin - 20 March 2011 - Zebra Country Lodge

Monica & Dustin came through from the UK for their lifelong dream of an African Bush Wedding. We corresponded with them for months via email and eventually got to meet them a couple of days before the wedding. Over numerous cups of coffee we got to know each other and had an lovely time together at their wedding

The weather held up, just just, and the rain started coming down as we were taking the last photo's of their couple shoot, it cleared up again in time for their night shoot (yeah!)

Overall the day was a huge success, she looked stunning, the guests were fantastic, the food was brilliant and the venue superb!

Denise & Gerhard - 12 March 2011 - Isiphiwo

We've been blessed to have known Denise and Gerhard for a number of years, so when we heard they were engaged we were already so exited for the two of them, and the wedding at Isipiwo was stunning!

You know how a young girl dreams of being the fairytale princess? Well Denise was just that princess! With a wedding dress designed by Unique Brides (WOW Annemarie!) she looked absolutely gorgeous! Gerhard was his fun and naughty self with the most amazing groomsmen, give them a whiskey for the nerves and they would do just about anything (Thanx guys, awesome shoot!)

Walking down the isle was anything but the normal run of the mill, emotions ran high and we all had to hold back the tears, some were more successful than others....

The day was exceptionally hot and a bit hazy, not the bright blues we were hoping for but still a stunning day all said and done. The entourage shoot was fun, as we knew it would be and the couples shoot lovely, we never got to the pool but maybe on another day.

The happily married couple entered the reception on a U2 song (this not long after they attended the U2 concert) and it was awesome. Gerhard's speech was brilliant and has everyone on stitches, and Denise blushing a bit! And we ended it off with a lovely night shoot

Rene & Paul - 5 March 2011 - Zebra Country Lodge

For those of you who think we used models to get these pics... we didn't, they honestly look this good together!

We met Rene two years ago when we did a studio shoot for her, and some time later we got to meet Paul. Where she is drop dead gorgeous, he is the ultimate gentleman and living proof of how a man should treat his lady.

The 5th and 6th of March were both exceptional days for photography, albeit a bit on the hot side. The wedding itself and the Trash-the-dress shoot were some of the best we've been involved in, and both Rene and Paul were to for anything we suggested, and they were so much fun to photograph!

The wedding took place in the Zebra Country Lodge Chapel (one of the warmest most amazing chapels ever) and the reception at Leopard View. The view from up there, over the whole valley is stunning! It wasn't a big wedding by any stretch of the imagination, but the enthusiasm of family and friends suggested a much bigger affair

It was such a privilege to be part of Rene & Paul's wedding day, and it is surely a weekend we will never forget. To the two of you, keep on being so good to each other, allow people from outside to see the love you have for each other, and may God bless your happy union each and every day

Thea & Anton - 26 February 2011 - Victorian Manor

Cullinan, what a gorgeous little town, and so perfect for a wedding! From the Cullinan Hotel where Thea got dressed, to the most amazing little station, all the way through to Victorian Manor where the reception was held, each one was perfect and contributed to the overall 'awesomeness' of their wedding.

Despite having the world at their feet these two amazing people are so modest, and so stunning to each other (and everyone around them) that it was an absolute pleasure being part of their big day. As you can see from the photo's Anton and his best men were up for anything, and when we had to move their shoot earlier due to possible weather issues, they were all smiles & fun.

Thea was an absolutely stunning bride, and a big thank you goes out to Beth for the amazing make-up, it was exactly what Thea was looking for. And that dress, WOW perfect perfect perfect!

A special mention also has to go to Victorian Manor, we never knew that there could be such a lovely and professional venue right in the middle of Cullinan, and we can recommend them to everyone thinking of a wedding in this amazing area, well done Bertha!

Adele & Johan - 11 December 2010 - Oxbow Country Estate

Another scorcher of a day, and blessedly the rains & storms came only after we did the couple shoot. Two lovely people, so in love and having fun whilst taking on their future together as one.

Very evident that Adele did modelling a couple of years back, beautiful and easy in front of the camera she took Johan's breath away walking down that aisle. Johan, an extremely talented singer/songwriter, serenaded her with a special song written for their wedding day, intense Johan and very very well done!

We changed the order of the shoots to give preference to their couple shoot before the storm came in, and what an incredible backdrop for some of the most amazing couple shoots ever! Oxbow is situated between Delmas & Bronkhorstspruit, and despite them being a little out of the way they are definitely a venue to consider for anyone's wedding!

Theresa & Hennie - 26 November 2010 - L'Aquila

Theresa & Hennie are just one of those perfect couples who are destined to be together forever, and a couple we've gotten to know & love dearly!

It was a stunning, yet extremely hot day. We started at around mid day, and Yolandie's make-up brought out Theresa's natural beauty to it's full potential, WOW what a gorgeous bride! Hennie looked quite dashing himself. They decided to do their couple-shoot, or at least part thereof, before the ceremony and with Sammy Marks Museum so close by it was perfect for a quick hour session.

The minister, Cobus Fabricius, presented a personal message to Hennie & Theresa that touched all of us greatly, and too soon it was confetti, group photo, families and entourage shoots before we had the two of them off to the L'Aquila Spa for another amazing shoot. The plated dinner was cuisine dining at it's finest. The dance floor was opened shortly thereafter and before the day ended we popped into the chapel for a night shoot

On the 'WILD' side

For those if you who don't know Lee & I all that well, we absolutely love the bush! Whenever we have a free moment you'll find us either in the Kruger National Park or in the Pilansberg Game Reserve. Not only are both park in travelling distance but they afford the most amazing game viewing to all.

We've also been privileged to have travelled the country to other reserves, but that happens only occasionally. When we still had more free time we were in the parks very often, but these days it's a big deal when we can go. As it stands now we'll be popping into the Kruger this coming weekend, and if we are blessed with the sightings we hope for we'll definitely share some pics on this site

Is there value in an Engagement shoot?

Over the last couple of years we've gotten to know and love Gerhard & Denise so much, and image our excitement when they asked us to do their wedding on the 12th of March 2011 at Isipiwe! As part of all the planning an E-shoot was recently done and it was absolutely stunning!

But why would anyone actually do an E-shoot? Contrary to what a lot of young couples might think, it's not done at the actual engagement party (mostly it's a big surprise for the bride to be, and guys don't really think of have a photographer there) An E-shoot can be done for a number of reasons:

1. If you are naturally uncomfortable in front of a camera
2. Get to know your photographer and get the feel of what you may expect on
your wedding day
3. To print a guest register or enlargement for guest to sign at the reception
4. To see what your make-up and hair (trails) will look like on camera

It's always a fun shoot, and the interaction between you and your photographer will not only prepare you for your wedding day but also make you look forward to you wedding day all the more

Ok, so the blog's been quiet for some time, with very little new blogging and news, but all that is about to change. We've been so busy and so blessed that we've realy not had the time to get to the blog, sorry guys! But be assured we've done some incredible shoots with the most amazing people, and we'll be sharing it with everyone.

What is a 'Trash-the-dress' Shoot?

Trash-the-dress, now which bride would actually want to ‘trash’ her dress? You’ve researched your perfect wedding dress, tried on 20 or 30 dresses, found the perfect one, saved forever or ruined your entire savings account (or your parents’) and now some inspired photographer (or so I thought!) suggested a ‘trash-the-dress’ shoot???? Most of you will go ‘no thank you’ and some of you will just delete the e-mail or my number… but for the few brides to be that are brave or patient enough, please hear me out?

I have no idea where the original idea originated but it’s the most amazing shoot ever, ok, second to your couple shoot on your wedding day, it’s the most amazing shoot ever! You’ve got the gorgeous dress, about to marry your very own Prince Charming and before you know it, it’s all over. You either have to return the rented dress or it ends up in the closet, you’ve said your ‘forever’s’ and you are surely not going to wear that dress again ,even if you should get married again, right?....right?

I’ve already mentioned how quickly the day goes by, and it does, believe me! And with your couple shoot you have to balance out your love for photo’s against your guests that are eagerly awaiting your return. The welcome drinks don’t always pack the ‘punch’, the bar is usually still closed ( and in same cases it should be!) and the snacks can only last soooo long. Add to that the chance of the Springboks having a game on and you have a pretty impatient crowd (raging mob?) awaiting your return. So it’s a given that we don’t have 3 hours to do your couple shoot, and time is a factor. We usually have lovely, soft late afternoon light and awesome sunsets, but what if there was something more something that you might have missed out on?

(drum roll the background please?) here enters the TRASH-THE-DRESS shoot! This is usually done on the morning after the Saturday wedding, or as soon as possible thereafter (not after the honeymoon, won’t work……no more diet, no gym for two weeks, breakfast, lunch & dinner at restaurants…..you are going to put on weight…. But then again maybe not… J) Here you get to put on that gorgeous dress again, the light is totally different (more hard blues than soft orange on your wedding afternoon) there’s no mob waiting and who cares if the dress gets a little dirty, it will wash out, and most Bridal companies include dry-cleaning in the rental costs. Do you remember all the photo’s you’ve seen in magazines (yes those which made you go ‘ohhh’ and ‘ahhhh’) of the bride in the swimming pool or in the ocean, it’s either a model, a bride with more than one wedding dress (it happens!) or it was done during a trash-the-dress shoot. And the water in the pool will not damage your dress, it’s more salt water than anything else

The aim here is to photograph the bride and the groom outside of the normal environments where one would expect to see them, in the pool or in the surf on the beach, in town or at a restaurant, on a fire engine or some grand structure of modern architecture, the only limit here is our own imagination! So despite you never planning on ever wearing THAT dress again, you can do so much more with it, without ripping it apart at the seams…

Michelle & Pieter - 20 Augustus 2010 - Greenleaves

Michelle en Pieter se troudag kon nie meer perfek gewees het nie, van die pragtige sonskyndag tot die huweliksbevestiging tot die ete, was alles uit die boeke gewees! Michelle het al lekker vroeg begin op die oggend van haar troue, en het absoluut pragtig gelyk! Pieter en sy manne was prêt om mee te werk en die ‘hakka’ tydens die ‘gevolg se foto’s’ was histeries snaaks gewees. Voeg daarby n byna mak Zebra en dit was perfek!

Vooraf het Pieter baie stil voorgekom, maar die man wat ons op sy troudag ontmoet het, het ons behoorlik aan die lag gehad (en daardie toespraak!!!)

Greenleaves het weereens verstom met hulle diens en dit bly maar n pragtige venue!

Michelle en Pieter, dit was wonderlik om deel van julle troudag te kon wees, dankie vir die voorreg! Mag julle huwelik ryklik geseend wees en mag elke dag gevul wees met avonture waarvan julle nog altyd gedroom het!

Nicola & Andrew - 21 August 2010 - Moon & Sixpence

We initially met Nicola & Andrew last year at Andrea & Glen’s wedding, Andrew was the life of the party so when they contacted us for their wedding we knew instantly that we’d get on like a house on fire! This time round Andrew was slightly more reserved and his best men took over, ‘The Boys-shoot’ was awesome and came out exceptional!

Nicola was radiant and looked gorgeous, with perfect make-up (thanks Yolandie) and the perfect dress! The day itself was one of those early spring days, not a cloud in the sky and perfect for photo’s! Emotions ran high (right Andrew?) as Nicola walked down the isle, the service was perfect and spoke to everyone in the chapel! As can be expected we had fun with the entourage shoot, the best men killing us, with very few serious pics (‘Pants-on-the-ground’ was the theme song for the day!)

The reception hall was a vision, the theme was basically 70’s with old vinyl records as underplates, flower arrangements in the shape of old gramophones, together with burnt orange tie-backs on the chairs, truly amazing work! Steven (one of the best men), your speech & presentation was excellent, job well done!

Marita & Adriaan - 22 May 2010 - Konka

Marita & Adriaan’s was an absolutely gorgeous wedding, from a bright sunny day all the way through to the amazing reception! Marita has that ‘model-look’ to her and looked fabulous for her fairytale wedding!

Due to the wedding taking place late afternoon they decided to do their couple-shoot before the ceremony. There was not a single cloud in the sky and the bush was just so inviting. Pierre from Konka was kind enough to drive us around and showed us the most amazing spots in the middle of the bush, thank you Pierre! With the harsh light we managed to get the most amazing blue sky’s in the background and it was a stunning shoot all round!

Having done an Engagement shoot for Marita & Adriaan we felt like old friends playing around with the camera, more fun than work! Konka as a venue surprised me greatly, the chapel is one of the most interesting we’ve ever shot in and the venue as a whole proved to be exceptional! Their logo ‘A Soul Adventure’ is a very accurate description and a venue which we would highly recommend!

Vida & Pierre - 15 May 2010 - The Tin Roof Café

WOW what a stunning couple and what an incredible wedding!

Vida & Pierre’s wedding took place at The Tin Roof Café, a venue which we can highly recommend for couples wanting something different. We had extreme fun with the two of them, from the first day we met Vida all the way through the wedding, and we still enjoy their humour greatly!

Vida was so excited, look gorgeous & vibrant and laughing all the way down the isle! Pierre was slightly more jittery, and entertained the guests with a few choice moves whilst waiting for his lovely bride! Their couple-shoot remains one of our highlights of all our weddings throughout the years, with Jenny’s husband (Tin Roof Café’s owners) allowing us to use their helicopter for their couple shoot! Our newlyweds were playing around so much that their were very few serious pics, and thanks to their relaxed nature in our presence we managed to capture their joy & fun which they had on their wedding day!

Vida & Pierre never sat still for a moment, especially after they opened the dance floor. The party went on till late and by very late into the evening more than a few guests treated themselves to pizza’s made in the wood burning ovens, the taste and smell of those pizza’s is another ‘highly recommended’ for all couples wanting a wedding different to all others!

Tin Roof Café is hidden away close to Mooiplaats, and this venue offers the ideal location, great food and amazing service all in one! Jenny, you guys were absolute amazing, thank you for being the ideal hosts to this amazing wedding!

Pierre & Vida, thank you so much for being such awesome people, for being fun throughout and for giving us the freedom to push the boundaries in processing your photo’s! Yours is a special union, and both of you have found the ideal partner in the other to take on the journey of life and love together! Be blessed and enjoy this amazing future which awaits you!

Cindy & Choppie - 8 May 2010 - Greenleaves

Cindy & Choppie got married on the 8th of May 2010 during a lovely ceremony at Greenleaves. The venue is situated very close to Hartebeespoortdam and offers a lovely backdrop with the mountain range behind it. The chapel at the Tuscan side is breathtaking, and the reception hall even more so!

Cindy looked lovely walking down the isle and I believe Choppie even shed a tear as she approached. As the sun was going down a friend of theirs played the flute, she’s brilliant and definitely contributed towards the ambience!

Angelique & Kallie - 24 April 2010 - L'Aquila

The weather is one aspect of their wedding day which did not affect Angelique or Kallie in the least! Despite it being cold & wet for the most part on their wedding day, everything else went off without a glitch. Angelique looked fabulous in her dress and Kallie made quite the groom himself! They had the greatest best men and brides maids to assist them, and both bride and groom was laughing so much that they didn’t have time for nerves before the wedding.

It was such a blessing that the wedding took place at L’Aquila, the chapel & Spa assisted greatly with the photo’s, so much so that it didn’t matter at all that it was so wet outside. The food was great (as always), opening dance was stunning and the DJ kept the two of them on the dance floor for the rest of the night. The ambient lighting in the chapel made for the most amazing night-shoot!

Angelique & Kallie, what a lovely day we were able to spend with you! We are so thankful that the OP before the wedding was such a huge success. You’ll see that we went for black & white preview photo’s, and if you are wondering why…. Well, just because we can… and we wanted something different

Charlene & Olivier - 17 April 2010 - Amanzingwe

Where do we start with these two amazing people…. Well, we’ve know them for some time, actually met Charlene & Olivier at Bev & JP’s wedding approximately two years ago (Bev is Charlene’s sister ). They’ve been together for years and then decided to make it official with a huge party! Both of them were so excited, one would have thought they had only been dating a couple of month before the wedding

It was absolutely the perfect day for a wedding, blue skies and a few white puffy clouds! We had the ‘French People’ there as well; no less than 42 of them flew through from France for the wedding, no easy task considering that most of Europe’s airspace was closed just before and just after the wedding due to volcanic ash clouds over most of Europe

Anyway, it was huge fun working with Charlene & Ollie, at some point Lee & I could hardly take photos due to laughing at their antics! Amanzingwe is a lovely venue, the food excellent, the bush-drive for the couple-shoot out of the books and Charlene from Amanzingwe was great to work with!

Charlene & Ollie, it was such a privilege being part of your wedding! Thanks for the laughs and all the good times and we wish you all the love and blessings for your future together!

Charmaine & Arno - 3 April 2010 - Villa Paradiso

Following Friday’s wet wedding it was quite amazing that we did not have a single drop of rain with Charmaine & Arno’s wedding on the Saturday! It was an amazing day at Villa Paradiso, a gorgeous venue with an incredible view of Hartebeespoortdam, and the venue co-ordinator was exceptional (Thank you Elma for looking so well after everybody!) The reception hall was another masterpiece by Adeline & Sonja from O-la-la Creations, WOW ladies very well done on this one!!!!

Charmaine look absolutely stunning in a floral design by Unique Brides, Annemarie you outdid yourself on this one!

Arno & Charmaine are both very close to Lee & I. We initially met Arno at Shireen & Hennie’s wedding approximately 2 years ago and now had the pleasure of photographing his wedding to Charmaine. What a lovely couple, he is the perfect gentleman and she is just so sweet! They were so easy to work with and no request we made was too much of a hassle for them, thank you guys! Then a special mention has to be made of Charmaine’s ring, being a diamond trader she had the pick of the bunch, and she picked an incredible heart shaped diamond for her ring! Wendy & Deo - 2 April 2010 - Galagos

Wendy & Deo got married on the wettest day of the year, just my humble opinion but I cannot recall this much rain on any given wedding, ever! There were however a number of factors that played in our favor, not least of all Galagos! An incredible venue with more than ample areas under cover that assisted greatly in providing stunning light & ambience, so much so that it did not bother that it was soaking outside.

Deo (or Deodar as he was christened) is a very avid pilot, and so fitting that we did his shoot with the boys at Kitty Hawk Airfield. We had a very recently washed Yellow Pipercup ready and waiting. Inside the hanger we got a couple of great pics before heading off to the venue. The ceremony was lovely and even the confetti under the thatch was beautiful. We did their family photos and as soon as we finished we were blessed with a break in the rain of no more than 20 minutes, just what we needed before heading indoors again.

The dance floor was opened as Wendy and Deo walked into the reception, with white petals falling from above throughout the whole of the first dance, breathtaking! Having done a wedding for friends of theirs we knew a few of the guests and enjoyed the ‘party’ with quite a few familiar faces.

Wendy & Deo, it was in incredible day with the two of you, your friends & family! Thank for being up for anything, not bothered by the weather and just going out there and having fun, you made our work so easy in less than perfect conditions.

Soné & Eben - 5 December 2009 - Chez Charlene

Soné and Eben got married on an exceptionally hot day early in December last year. The morning started off with Lee at the hairdresser with Soné and I started with Eben and his best men at Sherewood Guest Lodge close to Silverlakes. The setting for the boys was stunning, situated between the ‘koppies’ with lovely gardens and thatch roofs, and a pool that provided the ‘cool-down’ all the boys so desperately needed. I expected more nerves from Eben but he was so relaxed as he got ready to leave his bachelorhood behind him.

Soné look absolutely gorgeous in a design by Annemarie from Unique Brides, a ‘model-bride’ if ever we saw one! The ceremony was highly emotional with most people shedding a tear during the wedding vows. The feathers thrown as confetti look amazing and afforded us some incredible shots. The entourage shoot was fun, and then we went to the stables! Chez Charlene is a lovely venue and what made it stand out for me, was the opportunity to do Soné & Eben’s couple shoot with one of the horses, WOW it was absolutely amazing!

The speeches were a mixture of emotion and laughs, and then Soné gets up and sings a song for Eben, what a surprise and with the voice of an angel! With a well rehearsed dance routine the floor was opened and it remained full for the rest of the night. We managed to slip away for a few minutes to do a night-shoot in the chapel, the ambient light and videographer’s light supplied effects second to none and granted us even more opportunity do get unique shots for the two of them

Sonet, as mother of the bride you were absolute stunning! You looked lovely walking Soné down the aisle, and your involvement in the whole wedding was awesome! Thank you!

Soné & Eben, it was the fairytale wedding you both dreamt of, your love for one another is clear for all to see, and we wish you all the love and happiness for your future together! You started off as clients and now you are just so much more than friends! Thank you for being the most amazing, kind and generous couple!

Tanje & JC - 20 March 2010 - Zebra Country Lodge

Tanje and JC’s wedding is the ideal one to start this blog off with, a beautiful couple with a beautiful wedding and now also great friends!

It all started off when we met them in February 2009 when they started planning their wedding, and we’ve been having fun together ever since. We did their engagement shoot at the venue and got to meet their families that day. Jean, Deon, Krappie & Johan, thank you so much for being so amazing and welcoming us into you respective families from the very first time we met, and contributing so much to making this one of the most amazing weddings we’ve ever been privelidged to be part of!

Tanje & JC’s wedding took place at Zebra Country Lodge, one of the most exceptional bushveld venue’s out there. The day started of very relaxed, a bit of rain that didn’t last and then the fun started. JC’s shirt never made the trip from home and after a few calls it turned out the MC had brought two spare shirts for the weekend, one which fit JC… thanks Phillip, you rock! Then Jean’s (Tanje’s mom) dress disappeared for an hour or two, but thankfully it was found in time. JC didn’t blink an eyelid through all this and thanks to the groomsmen getting dressed a few times we had an awesome shoot for ‘The Boys’! Tanje looked amazing in a white dress with red trim, and totally took JC’s breath away as she walked down the aisle…

After the ceremony and the family photo’s we started with the entourage shoot and a bottle of champagne, everybody was so relaxed and it provided some of the most amazing shots. With the sunset fast approaching we did the couple shoot, and WOW Tanje & JC was open to anything, and the shots we got were incredible! The reception was great fun, Tanje and her water gun got in on the act during JC’s speech and got laughs from all. Sunday morning we did their trash-the-dress shoot, it was a lovely morning and the two of them ended up in the pool! Guys thanks for braving the cold water and not shaking when the camera was on you!

To blog or not to blog

Considering this blog has just been started it might be a good idea to ponder for a brief while... We've been busy in the wedding photography business for about 5 years, and never had one of these, so why now? Well, we've never had a Facebook page either, untill now that is, and it seems to be working... so why not!

What to display and share with the world was another question. So we're doing the Facebook thing for our Boudoir Photography

Ok, enough of deep thoughts and time for a decision... We'd love to share more about our couples who we do weddings for, more about the day itself, the venue, the emotions and the joy of their weddings. Despite have done so many weddings each one is new, fresh and most of all fun!
